About Prudent
Prudent is a simple idea with an old name: see trouble coming while there’s still time to do something about it, and get your house ready in a calm, orderly way.
This site is for ordinary families. Not commandos, not doomsday folks, just households that want to be able to take care of themselves and the people around them when the power’s out, the store shelves are thin, or money gets tight.
Three things guide everything written here:
- Biblical, not fearful. Getting ready is all through the Bible, from the ant in Proverbs to Joseph’s storehouses to Noah building before a drop of rain fell. We prepare because it’s wise and because providing for a house is part of the faith, not because we’re scared.
- Necessity before privilege. Most preparedness talk starts with gear. We start with a sort: what’s a true necessity, what’s a privilege, and what’s a luxury wearing a necessity costume. Money and effort go to the necessities first.
- One step at a time. Nobody eats an elephant in a day. Small steady steps, week by week, beat a panic buy every time.
The name comes from Proverbs 22:3, “The prudent see danger and take cover.” And the tagline is Noah’s story in six words: be ready before the rain.
